![]() The Sidekick comes with a rechargeable li-ion battery and a complimentary USB charge cord. If you find that comparison a bit questionable given the different lumen outputs between the low settings, then it’s also worth reminding that the Sidekick has a 1.25 hour runtime at 300 lumens, versus the Titan-A’s runtime of 50 minutes at 125 lumens, and the Titan-B’s runtime of 1 hour at 300 lumens. ![]() The Sidekick’s max runtime is 45 hours at its lowest setting, versus the Titan-A with a runtime of 8.5 hours and the Titan-B with a runtime of 6 hours. The model we have in our possession is the Titan-A, which has a dual output of 15 and 125 lumens the Titan-B or Titan Plus is the triple-output model with an output of 15, 75, and 300 lumens.Ĭomparing the two, you’ll quickly find that the Sidekick is arguably superior in almost every aspect. The Titan is an ultra-compact dual-output flashlight, marketed on the packaging as “an ideal keychain light”. It is marketed primarily as a keychain light, and as such comes with a key clip for attaching to a keychain or carabiner.Īs the Sidekick is designed as a Keychain light, its closest analogue within SureFire’s own product line is the Titan. The Sidekick has a maximum runtime of 45 hours at 5 lumens, 4 hours at 60 lumens, and 1.25 hours at 300 lumens. ![]() It produces a wide MaxVision beam with a maximum range of 66 meters, and has an onboard rechargeable li-ion battery, and a mini-USB port to charge the battery. The Sidekick is a triple-output light, with settings for 5, 60, and 300 lumens. Included within the packaging is the Sidekick light, a 6″ USB cable for charging the light, and a key clip. Your flashlight should be as close or closer to your bed as your pistol is.įlashlight Chapter of Indoor Range Practice Sessions FreeįTC Notice: The SureFire products were sent to me gratis but I receive no compensation for writing about them. The packaging for the Sidekick is pretty standard for a SureFire-brand light: red background blister pack with all the technical information right on the front, while the back displays the general features. If you own a pistol for personal protection, you should know how to use a flashlight along with it. ![]() That’s another good testing criterion for a flashlight.Īs a reminder, the flashlight shooting chapter of my book Indoor Range Practice Sessions is free to download. When I have the opportunity, I’ll have someone shine the SideKick in my face to see if it’s as blinding as the 6P is. That’s not the SideKick’s intended role but if it were pressed into service for that purpose, the user would have to be very careful not to get the hand holding the flashlight in front of the gun muzzle. Because of its size and switch location, none of the commonly taught flashlight shooting techniques will work with it. One thing the SideKick doesn’t do as well as the 6P is function as a shooting assist light. The Low mode’s usability for this would depend on the user’s eyesight but that’s probably irrelevant for this usage. This showed that both High and Medium modes would provide more than adequate illumination to make the Don’t Shoot/Shoot decision. The Target ID test for it was on a prototype Recognition Primed Decision training target at 10 feet. The SideKick throws a much wider pattern that is much more even throughout. The 6P has very bright center spot with a less intense spill surrounding it. The throw pattern is clearly different than the 6P LED. MaxVision Beam® floods your boundaries with light triple output: 300, 60 and 5 lumens The order can be reprogrammed during the recharging process.Ĭomparing the SideKick to the 6P LED showed some noticeable differences. The literature says this is the opposite order of the factory order setting but that’s how it came. Mine cycles from High (300 lumens) to Medium (60 lumens) to Low (5 lumens) and then Off in order. The variability of output is controlled by quickly pressing the switch multiple times. If the switch is pressed a few seconds later the light turns off. Pressing the switch and leaving it puts the light in the High mode. The switch has two options, which are an improvement over some of the complicated switching patterns often found on tactical lights. When setting the light down as an impromptu worklight, the flat shape is much better than a round light, even one with a limited roll aspect. ![]() The carabiner attachment has been handy for removing and reattaching the light to the keychain. ![]()
