![]() ![]() I'd love to hear what others thought about this beautiful space story! I think this book is a fantastic way to recover from a reading slump and improve mood :) I'm so glad I found out about this novel and I'd love to read other works by Chambers! I would highly reccomend this to anyone who wants a comfortable/unintimidating sci fi novel with interesting ideas, wholesome characters, accessible language, steady pacing, and interpersonal relationships. This book was just what I needed during a stressful period. Luckily, it appears that this book is a part of a series, so I'm glad to know that I'll be able to "go" on another adventure with these sweet space characters again (if I can get my hands on a copy of the next book!) I feel a bit sad too, since I feel quite connected to the characters now and I did not want the book to end (I started flipping pages really slowly at the end haha). I really enjoyed how the book focused on interpersonal relationships between all of the different characters, and I loved the little bits of humour and pacing of the story. I feel really warm inside after reading this novel. I just finished reading this very comforting science fiction book. Thank you so, so much for chatting with me today. I'm sorry I didn't have time to answer everybody, but this book isn't going to edit itself. THE FINAL EDIT: Whew! It's almost 6, and I'm afraid I have to get going. Yet another edit: It's not 5:00 yet, but I just stuck my head in to see how things were going, and HOLY CATS, you have questions! I'm going to jump back in now (3:45) so I can get to as many of you as possible, and I'll bounce out for good around 5:15-5:30. I have to go get some work done now (12:00 PST), but I'll come back around 5:00 PST to answer the leftovers. (Also my website isn't working right now, which I'll fix when not here.)Īnother edit: So many awesome questions. Ask me anything.Įdit: I'm here! Let's do this. I play games (both video and tabletop), I do astronomy outreach with my local club, and I love bugs. I mean, not right right now, because I’m here with you, on Reddit. It’s called To Be Taught, If Fortunate, and I’m editing it.right now. And late this summer, I’ve got a brand new standalone novella coming out. Huang, and myself (that’ll be out March 6). I’m also part of the team behind The Vela, a digital serial novel produced by Serial Box and written by Yoon Ha Lee, Rivers Solomon, S.L. ![]() I’m about to dive into writing the fourth book, so there’s more to come. My Wayfarers series currently includes The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet*, A Closed and Common Orbit, and Record of a Spaceborn Few. In a nutshell: I’m Becky, and I write science fiction. I hope you had a good time reading it (and if you didn’t, may whatever you read next be more your jam). ![]() Thanks, too, for choosing The Long Way as your book club pick this month. if they survive the long trip through war-torn interstellar space without endangering any of the fragile alliances that keep the galaxy peaceful.īut Rosemary isn't the only person on board with secrets to hide, and the crew will soon discover that space may be vast, but spaceships are very small indeed.Hey, r/books!
